ALI ANSI Accreditation

The American Ladder Institute is proud to be an ANSI Accredited Standards Developer producing national safety standards for various types of portable and fixed ladders.

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI)
oversees the creation and use of thousands of norms and guidelines that directly impact businesses in many sectors, including construction equipment, agriculture, sound devices, and energy distribution. A non-profit organization headquartered in NYC, ANSI also supports accrediting programs that assess conformity to voluntary standards, both nationally and internationally.

ANSI Mission: "To enhance both the global competitiveness of U.S. business and the U.S. quality of life by promoting and facilitating voluntary consensus standards and conformity assessment systems, and safeguarding their integrity”.

While ANSI does not create any American National Standards (ANS’s) it provides a neutral venue for interested parties to work toward common agreements. The process is guided by consensus, due process and openness, and depends upon data gathering and compromise among diverse stakeholders.

The Institute ensures that access to the standards process, including an appeals mechanism, is made available to anyone directly or materially affected by a standard that is under development. Individuals, companies, government agencies and other organizations such as labor, industrial and consumer groups voluntarily contribute their knowledge, talents and efforts to standards development.
