OSHA Issues Corrections to Standards

OSHA has issued corrections for its Walking-Working Surfaces, Personal Protective Equipment and Special Industries standards to remove "typographical, formatting and clerical errors," publishing a final rule in the Dec. 17 Federal Register. Corrections related to Ladders, 1910.23(d)(4): The previous rule required that "the side rails of through or side-step ladders extend 42 inches above the top of an access level or landing platform served by the ladder." The agency has added the words "at least" before "42 inches." Read more about the updates here

OSHA Celebrates 50-Year Anniversary 

Throughout the past five decades, OSHA's workplace focus areas have changed, but its mission has always remained the same -- ensure safe workplaces across the board. In its 50-year recap, OSHA highlights its fall prevention campaign as a key initiative launched in the 2010s. OSHA states that falls are the number one cause of worker fatalities in the construction industry. American Ladder Institute and National Ladder Safety Month work at decreasing these numbers and ensuring workers and homeowners alike are safe on ladders.
