Q: Do you have Ladder Safety Training in Spanish?
A: Yes, when you arrive at the website,, click 'Espanol' at the top of the page for ladder safety training in Spanish.

Q: Do you sell ladders?
A: No, ALI does not sell ladders- our Manufacturer Members sell ladders. ALI is strictly dedicated to promoting the safe use of ladders.

Q: If I purchase a DVD order, is it tax exempt?
A: Yes, this is a not-for-profit organization; therefore, all our DVDs are tax exempt.

Q: I need to show the Ladder Safety Training during in a classroom setting with no internet. Can I download the Ladder Safety Training Videos?
A: No, you cannot download the videos, but you can purchase them in DVD format. Exams are sent by email to trainers and are included within the cost of the DVDs. 

Ladder Safety Training videos are also barred from placement on another company's LMS or Intranet due to the American Ladder Institute's copyright policy.

Q: I keep trying to register for the Ladder Safety Training course and it tells me another user exists for my email address. How can I fix this?
A: This message means you or a training manager have previously registered as a user on  To log in, click the 'Sign In' button and then click, 'Forgot Password'. One will be emailed to you.

Q: I forgot my password and the password sent by the system  is not working.
A: Email the American Ladder Institute at for additional assistance.

Q: Do all users need a valid email address?
A: Yes, all users need to have a unique, valid email address for Safety Certification verification purposes. This is required because a user is notified via email that he or she has been registered to the website. Also, if you forget your password, you need to have a valid email address to receive a new password.

Q: I am unable to view your videos, why?
A: The reason the videos are not playing on your computer could be because the web browser you are using (e.g. Internet Explorer, FireFox Mozilla, Google Chrome) is not up-to-date or because your internet connection is not strong enough. Try using a different web browser or using an ethernet cord in place of Wi-Fi. 

Note: We highly discourage Internet Explorer for viewing Ladder Safety Training videos. 

Q: I experienced an issue with the Ladder Safety Training website on Friday, and it is now Sunday.  Why haven’t I received a response email yet?

A: The American Ladder Institute operates Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. central, and observes most Federal U.S. holidays. Any inquiries made outside of those hours will be answered in a timely manner.


Q: I’m a trainer and need to register another trainee. What do I do now?

A: Sign into your account. On the trainer’s homepage, there is a section labeled ‘Manage Trainees.’  There, you will find options to add individual trainees or entire groups.


Q: I watch the videos and take the tests each year. Why won’t my Safety Certificate update to the current year?

A: Due to technological limitations, the Safety Certificates only change to reflect your highest score.


For example, if a trainee earned a 98% in 2014 and a 94% in 2015, the Safety Certificate will only reflect the 2014 score.

Q: I know the American Ladder Institute creates standards for ladders, but can I also receive stickers, such as weight ratings?

A: Through its participation in the ANSI A14 committees, the American Ladder Institute does play a larger role in setting the safety norms of the ladder industry. However, the American Ladder Institute does not create, sell or maintain stock of any type of sticker. To replace a sticker on your ladder, please contact the manufacturer directly. 


Q: I have been using ladders professionally for years. Do I really need to take this course?

A: Yes! Even veterans of ladder use can refresh their safety knowledge each year to ensure the safest work site. A Safety Certificate from the American Ladder Institute shows your employer and potential clients how much you value safety personally and professionally.
